1045 Cold Rolled Steel Turned, Ground & Polished Round Bars

WORKABLE: This is medium-carbon steel. The higher content imparts higher strength properties than 1018 steel. When higher degrees of dimensional accuracy and straightness are required, we recommend the use of PRECISION SHAFTING. Due to the higher carbon content this material is not readily welded.
USES: This material is used where greater strength is required than can be obtained from the lower carbon steels. It responds to heat treatment well. Used primarily as shafts, machinery parts, bolts, pinions, gears, etc.
PROPERTIES: Tensile Strength 110,000 PDI, Yield Strength 85,000 PSI min.
HARDNESS: Brinell Hardness - 223
